1. The most important things first
Formwandel is built so that your data stays with you: the app works without an account and without registration, it contains no analytics, tracking or advertising services, and we operate no servers of our own. All content — weight entries, photos, generated films and settings — is processed and stored exclusively locally on your iPhone. We as the provider never have access to this data at any time.
2. What data the app processes
Using the app produces the following categories of data — all locally on your device:
- Weight data (health data within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR) that you enter yourself or import from Apple Health
- Progress photos that you take with the camera or import from your photo library
- Generated transformation films that the app computes from your photos (the computation happens entirely on the device)
- Settings such as goal weight, start date, entry interval and reminder times
The legal basis for processing is the performance of the usage contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) or your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a), Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR), which you grant via the iOS system dialogs.
3. Apple Health (HealthKit)
At your explicit request — via the iOS permission dialog — the app reads your weight from Apple Health and writes your new entries there. This data remains in Apple Health on your device and is neither received nor evaluated by us. Health data is used exclusively for the app’s core features (weight curve, statistics, film overlays) — never for advertising, marketing or other purposes, and never shared with third parties. You can revoke the permission at any time under Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
4. Optional iCloud synchronization
You can enable synchronization via iCloud in the app to use your entries, photos and settings on several of your own devices. In this case the data is stored encrypted in your personal, private iCloud (Apple services CloudKit and the iCloud key-value store). The provider is Apple Inc. or, for users in the EEA, Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland; Apple’s privacy policy applies in addition. We have no access to your iCloud data. Synchronization is off by default, is based on your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a), Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR) and can be disabled at any time in the Profile tab.
5. Camera, photo library and notifications
Access to the camera and photo library only happens after your approval via the iOS system dialogs and exclusively to take progress photos, import them, or export finished films to your library. Reminders are scheduled as local notifications directly on your device — there is no communication with any push servers of the provider.
6. On-device face and body detection
For the automatic alignment of your photos in the transformation film, the app uses Apple’s Vision framework exclusively on your device. In the process, technical feature points are temporarily computed from your progress photos — facial landmarks (e.g. eye and mouth position), body joint points and the body silhouette — in order to stack the photos congruently and compute smooth transitions. This feature data exists only transiently in memory while the film is being created: it is not saved, not stored with the photos, not used to identify persons and not transmitted to us or third parties; once the computation is complete, it is discarded automatically. No facial recognition in the sense of identity matching takes place.
7. Backups
Via the export function you can create a ZIP archive of your data (entries, photos, films, settings). This archive is solely your responsibility — you decide where to store it and whether to restore it. In addition, your data may be part of the regular device backup (iCloud or computer backup), which you manage yourself in iOS.
8. Storage period and deletion
Your data remains stored until you delete it: individual entries, photos and films directly in the app, everything else by deleting the app. With synchronization enabled, you can additionally remove the iCloud data via the iOS settings (iCloud → Manage Storage). Weights written to Apple Health are managed and deleted in the Health app.
Your rights
You have the rights under Art. 15–21 GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. For app data the following applies: since it resides exclusively on your device or in your private iCloud, you largely exercise these rights yourself — you can view, correct, export (ZIP) and delete everything directly in the app. Consents you have granted (Health, iCloud, camera, notifications) can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. For data that arises with us (e.g. your e-mail inquiries), contact info@miroo-media.de — the information is free of charge. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority — the authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Lower Saxony, Germany.
Changes
We will adapt this policy when the app or the legal situation changes. The current version can always be found at this address; the “last updated” date is shown above.
